Please welcome Jackson Kent to our family!
All about Jack...
The adoption process...
Jack was born Victor Sergeyevich Vichin on Saturday, July 1st, 2000, in the city of Blagoveschensk, Amur region of Russia. Amur is in the far south east part of Russia bordering China.  The Amur river runs between Russia and China.  Blago is an 8-10 hour plane ride from Moscow and is 15 hours ahead of our central time zone.

Jack is 19 months old, although he is small and wears size 12-18 month clothes..  He walks, talks perfect 2 year old Russian
(actually he understood Russian, but wasn't speaking it) is almost potty trained, drinks from a cup, and is a very happy little boy.  He is not particular about any toys, he likes everything.  He is not afraid of the car, likes taking baths, and is good for a haircut.  He is allergic to penicillin. (Turns out he's NOT allergic to penicillin, or anything for that matter, like we were told.) Every video we have of him he is smiling and seems so happy.  He is growing like a weed and we can't wait till he comes home!!!
After years of infertility treatments, miscarriages, IVF's, countless Dr. appointments, and the works, we decided to adopt.  I always knew I would adopt one day, I've always thought about adoption.  We started the process on July 26, 2001 by turning our application in to INS.  We mailed our application to Tree of Life Adoption Agency the next day.  We had our Home Study on August 24 with our Social Worker, Sandra Carlson.  She came to our house, interviewed both Don and I and took a tour of our home.  She was here about 2 1/2 hours, very simple.  We recieved a picture and medical information of Victor via email on September 12, 2001 from Bianca at our agency.  We requested his video shortly after.  We took his video and medical report to Nancy Kline at the Texas Children's Hospital to review.  She confirmed what we already knew, he was perfect!!  We called the agency from our car in the parking garage to officially accept Jack, we were so excited!!!  We then completed our paperwork, called a dossier, in record time.  We turned our dossier and a huge chunk of change in on October 7.  We got INS approval on December 19.  And now we wait and wait and wait.....for a court date in Russia. (Court date was April 13, 2002)
This picture was taken on January 16, 2002 by Alysha.  Alysha is in Russia picking up her two children who live at my same orphanage.  I am looking at my photo album that Mommy and Daddy sent to me.  I have a picture of Mommy, Daddy, my new dog Dixie, my new house, and my new room!!  Alysha told Mommy that I carry my photo album around with me saying, "Mama, Mama, Papa, Papa, Sabaka (that means dog in Russian.)"  Daddy thinks I'm pointing at his picture.  Silly daddy, he knows I'm looking at Mommy!!!  I can't wait to come home!!!!
Not flesh of
my flesh
Not bone of
my bone
But still
miraculously
my own

Never forget
for a single
minute
You didn't
grow under
my heart
But in it.
